Ponyboi’s River Gallo in The Advocate [VIDEO]

Great interview in The Advocate with River Gallo, writer, director and star of Ponyboi, the first narrative film about an intersex character, created by and starring an intersex person, and his collaborator, co-director and producer Sadé Clacken Joseph.

The film is a twenty minute short which the filmmakers plan to develop it into a feature. With the help of British comedian and fellow Los Angeles based intersex activist Seven Graham, and London based trans artist and intersex ally Ela Xora, Ponyboi came to the attention of Stephen Fry and Emma Thompson, who became executive producers of the short.

As The Advocate shares, “In this groundbreaking story of love and self-acceptance, Gallo gives a powerful performance, drawing from his experiences growing up intersex.” We can’t wait to see it!

Ponyboi premieres in the United States in Los Angeles on March 1st, and will then head too London. Please look out for a showing near you to support intersex visibility in film!
