IC4E E.D. Hida Viloria’s essay, “What’s in a Name: Intersex and Identity”, was published this month in the college textbook, Queer: A Reader for Writers, by Oxford University Press.

The book includes an interdisciplinary mix of public, academic, and cultural reading selections, and was developed for courses in first-year writing. It provides students with the rhetorical knowledge and analytical strategies required to participate effectively in discussions about queer theory and culture. Hida’s essay was originally published in The Advocate on May 14, 2014, and will now be read by countless college students, alongside renowned scholars and queer thought-makers and theorists such as Gayle Rubin, Eve K. Sedgwick, Anne Fausto-Sterling, Michel Foucault, Alison Bechdel, Katrina Karkazis, Dan Savage, and many more.
