As outlined in USA Today, model Hanne Gaby Odiele has come out as intersex– hurray!

She did so, like all intersex advocates, to shine a light on the human rights abuse of nonconsensual cosmetic infant surgeries, aka Intersex Genital Mutilation (IGM), and to advocate for an end to the practice. As Odiele told USA Today:

“I am proud to be intersex,” she says, “but very angry that these surgeries are still happening.”

We are too, and we thank and commend Odiele for stepping out, with pride, to advocate against them!! We also thank our colleagues at InterACT for partnering with her on her journey.
